BUT FOR HIS GRACE

And should there be a moment I fail to recognise, embrace & pray for His grace, struggling is inevitable.

Shortly after I got saved, someone had played the song from her playlist and unknown to her, the song resonated with my salvation experience.

Thought provoking, reassuring & igniting it was.

It reminded me of how I had even struggled a couple of times before I eventually got saved & how that changed when I embraced grace.

But for your grace I could not be saved

But for your grace I could go my way

I’m forever grateful that you’ve been faithful

to me Lord

The song was a perfect reminder of who I was & who I was growing to become which reinforced not changing my ringtone for about 2 years .

I know here in Africa, it often appears like “…. by God’s grace” has been overused by Christians and even those who are not, but my recent thoughts about it affirms it is only what it is.

SO WHAT IS GRACE?

There has been many school of thoughts about grace which includes:

How God reaches to us.

God’s gift to mankind

God’s riches at Christ’s expense

Which are all valid

And for me, grace is always a reminder of God’s interest in me.

I like that it is such a leveler, yes it is!

The righteous needs so much of it just as the sinner does, howbeit in different forms.

The common grace is recognised by all and sundry and permit me to remind you of its yoruba translation- Ore-Ofe

Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

The sinner needs transforming grace that turns him into a saint.

And then

The saint

To be assured he is God’s own needs grace as well- justifying grace

To overcome sin & do right, needs grace enabling grace

To pray, needs grace- empowering grace.

To know he’s erred is prompted by grace

To continue on the path of righteousness needs grace- sustaining grace

The fathers in faith also need it.

Every Christian on this journey of faith needs grace.

For every moment.

In times of weakness

Overall, I would say it has deepened my love for God and man.

Reminding me that there’s no need to struggle

Teaching me to extend the grace I have received to others while living.

Forgiving others of their offences

Encouraging others with graceful words

Serving in God’s temple gracefully using my talent.

You need grace, so do I.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].
