How has the Christmas celebration been at your end?
I started off the day with some chores.
Thereafter, I went ahead to attend to a sick colleague in clinic before I headed off to Church.
At the time of writing this, I’m still in Church (7:00pm)
“Ahhh, so you didn’t celebrate Christmas?” you might be asking.
Hmnn, not the typical celebration you’d expect.
Grew up to celebrating Christmas in a Church programme we call Christmas retreat, so no worries.
Alright, let’s get the ground running.
Last night, just before sleeping, I paused for the first time since the festive season came upon us to think about all the details in-between.
And my brain went on a full “what if” marathon.
What if Jesus had said, “Nah, I’m good, Earth looks ghetto.” and he refused to come here.
What if Mary and Joseph were already doing the do? 👀 (wink wink)
What if the wise men actually went back to Herod and Jesus was cleared off with the under threes killed.
When I thought about all these what-ifs, one thing became very clear:
God was in full control, and His love for humanity was intentional and relentless.
Because let’s be honest — if any part of the plan had failed, we’d still be lining up with goats, sheep, and cattle for sacrifices today.
Here are some lessons that are quite easy to talk about but difficult to practice and that has lingered in my mind over the last 24 hours:
1) God keeps His promises (even when it feels like He’s taking His time)
Jesus’ birth wasn’t a last-minute idea. It was prophesied thousands of years before it happened.
It actually did look like it was never going to happen but on a night, it came to pass.
Any Lesson?
God doesn’t forget what He says- No He doesn’t
Like we usually would say, delays don’t mean denial.
Even when it feels like forever, God is never late.
Motivation:
Keep trusting. Keep preparing. What God promised you will arrive.
God always keeps his end of the covenant.

2) God often works quietly (no announcements, no hype)
The Messiah didn’t arrive with sirens, escorts, royal guards, or palace aesthetics.
No press conference. No trending hashtag.
God was working behind the scenes, in silence, simplicity, and humility.
Lesson?
Just because your season is quiet doesn’t mean God is inactive.
Motivation:
Don’t despise hidden seasons. God does some of His best work when no one is watching.
3) God is a present God (He came on-site, not online)
Remember the song: “He came from heaven to earth to show the way…” 🎶
God didn’t send a memo or a voice note.
He showed up in flesh.
Jesus experienced hunger, temptation, exhaustion, rejection, all that comes with the full human package.
And He didn’t come in comfort or luxury. Poverty said, “Welcome.”
Lesson?
God understands what you’re going through because He has been here.
Motivation:
You’re not praying to a distant God. You’re praying to One who gets it.

4)Jesus came from a humble background (and still changed the world)
Born to Mary and Joseph, no silver spoon.
Raised by a carpenter.
No privilege, no connections yet history was rewritten.
Any Lesson?
Your background does not determine your impact.
God is not limited by where you start.
Like Reverend Funke Adejumo would say, “Don’t let your background put your back on the ground”.
Motivation:
Don’t let where you are coming from stop you from becoming who God called you to be.
I wanted to make this five lessons, but my brain said, “That’s all for today.”
So feel free to add yours in the comments 😄
Christmas isn’t just about food, outfits, or vibes.
It’s a reminder of the beginning of redemption.
So beyond the festivities, let’s take a moment to reflect and be grateful.
